"Shoot to Kill" begins with an open and shut case of burglary related homicide. However when it becomes apparent an extortionist named simply Steve (Clancy Brown) is holding the wife of the murdered jeweler, Sarah Renell (Kristie Alley) hostage, FBI agent Warren Stantin (Sidney Poitier) becomes involved. He tracks Steve to the forests of North America by the Canadian boarder. Afraid that Steve may make it with his hostage across the boarder, Stantin teams up with local recluse, Jonathan Knox (Tome Berenger) who has the know-how and knowledge to track anyone in that dense foliage. Now Stantin not only has to keep his wits about him to find this kidnapper but also to stay alive in the dreaded wilderness which threatens to eat him alive
