The success of the Mighty Ducks, a youth hockey team, inspires their coach, Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez), to play again. An injury forces him to retire for good, but an exciting proposition helps him get back in the game. He is offered the chance to coach a team representing the United States in the Junior Goodwill Games. Bombay gathers the former Ducks, a group of talented kids including Charlie (Joshua Jackson), Bombay’s protégé. Things are different this time: the team is forced to change their uniform to represent sponsors, hire Michelle McKay (Kathryn Erbe), and accept several new players. The team resists the changes, viewing the new players as rivals instead of teammates; all while Bombay is dazzled by the lavish new lifestyle. Somehow they have to learn to work together to get to the final game and face their opponents, the formidable team from Iceland.
