Set in the recent past, an elderly mailman Hector Negron (Laz Alonso) goes postal and shoots someone waiting in line at the post office. Reporter Tim Boyle (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) tries to find out what caused Hector to go crazy and in the process the story about the miracle at St. Anna is told, an event that happened during WWII. Hector, Train (Omar Benson Miller), Stamps (Derek Luke) and Bishop (Michael Ealy) are all soldiers in the all-black 92nd Infantry Division, part of the segregated US troops during WWII. While fighting in Italy their unit gets wiped out due to the racism of their commanding officer and the four friends survive. Facing certain death at the hands of the Germans, the men retreat to an Italian village which turns out to be filled with partisans, part of the Germans target as well.
