Kurt Wallander (Krister Henriksson) is the Chief Inspector of the Ystad Police Department in Sweden. This case finds him investigating the murders of Olof (Anders Aldgard) and Carolina Wrangel (Sofie Lindberg). They are found dead in their stately home, while the military is outside doing drills and exercises. It seems that Carolina was tortured and raped in front of her husband, and then the perpetrator killed both of them. As the evidence emerges, Wallander begins to believe that the murders are acts of revenge for a transgression that had happened at least 20 years before. Wallander’s superiors in Stockholm pressure him for a solution to the crimes, and with the help of his daughter Linda (Johanna Sallstrom) and Detective Stefan Lindman (Ola Rapace), he will discover the truth.
