How can you not fall in love with the sweet innocence of Number 5, a lab robot that is electrocuted and suddenly possesses human characteristics? Newton Crosby (Steve Guttenburg) and Ben Jabituya (Fisher Stevens) are trying to recapture Number 5 to get him reprogrammed where he is obviously malfunctioning. Stephanie Speck (Ally Sheedy) finds herself fascintated with Number 5 and becomes his protector as he tries to convince Newton and Ben that he is a being and not simply a piece of equipment. Is it possible for a piece of equipment to have feelings, a sense of humor and to experience life?
