When Harrison Lloyd (David Straitharn) goes missing on assignment as a journalist in war torn Yugoslavia during the Croatian War of Independence he is presumed dead. His wife Sarah (Andie MacDowell), however, refuses to believe that he is dead, and is determined to find him amidst the war and conflict in the area. She travels through the war torn area, determined to find him, and is helped in her quest by Kyle Morris (Adrien Brody) and Marc Stevenson (Brendan Gleeson), who are also journalists. During this harrowing journey Harrison's son Cesar (Scott Anton) remains at home amidst his father's beloved flowers, tending them and keeping them alive.
