Louise Dyrander (Karin Bergquist) checks into the expensive hotel in Townsville where she had spent many nights with her lover, only this time she never checks out. When the maid enters Louise’s room, she is confronted with a horrible scene resembling a slaughterhouse, with blood everywhere and no Louise. Inspector Kurt Wallender (Krister Henriksson) is called upon to investigate and soon discovers that Louise’s lover, Oskar Ung (Ove Wolf) had also been in the room that night. Meanwhile, the body of the dead woman’s is found floating in the country and the evidence surrounding her death is leading to Ung. This complicates matters because Linda Wallander (Johanna Sallstrom) and Ung were once lovers who appear to still have feeling for each other. This prompts Kurt to order Linda not to get involved with the investigation, but, this proves to be easier said then done.
