Ogion (Danny Glover) has a problem. The problem’s name is Ged (Shawn Ashmore) and Ged is a problem because Ogion is a (wise and old) wizard while Ged is his (young and far less wise) apprentice. They live on the island of Gont in the midst of Earthsea, a mostly oceanic world with no large continents but thousands of islands. Eventually, Ged must make his way to the isle of Roke, where there is a school for wizards governed by the Archmagus (Alan Scarfe). After the school is attacked by a Kargad army, led by their Warrior-King, Tygath (Sebastian Roché) Ged is forced to flee and set out on what will be a lengthy journey with several adventures. These will culminate on the Island of Atuan (one of the Kargad homelands) where he will: find himself lost in the mysterious and maze-like Tombs of Atuan, chance to meet Tenar (Kristin Kreuk) a young priestess of the Old Powers, and face down the Gebbeth (Mark Acheson) a creature of dark magic that has pursued him throughout his journey.
