Set in the not too many years in the future, the United States is in a protracted conflict with the Confederation of Arab States, which has made gas prices skyrocket. Tom Hanson (Christian Slater) is a Wall Street whiz kid who is having a bad luck at home and work at the same time his venerable employer, investment bank Delaney & Strong, is struggling to stat afloat. Needing a big deal, company CEO Jared Tolson (Robert Loggia) asked Hanson to spearhead a gas and oil merger between two American and Russian companies. The deal could prop the investment bank up but the problem is Hanson isn’t an energy expert and the first manager of the merger was murdered. Hanson accepts and as he begins to unravel things, huge questions arise about ethics and the Russian mafia. Even internal forces are working against him as not everyone wants Hanson to run the merger. The energy expert at the company Hank Wiess (Colm Feore) hires environmentalist Abbey Gallagher (Selma Blair) to help destroy Hanson. Between the internal forces and the external conspiracy, Hanson is on the run in this thriller to do the right thing and stay alive.
